Welcome back to the barn and shop friends. We are glad to have you back for a visit. Pull up a milk stool and a cup of coffee or tea, and i'll give you all the barn yard chatter. The holidays are in the review mirror now and have been added to the collection of great memories we all hold dear. As we look ahead to the new year, we are filled with hope and excitement. There is always lots to be excited about on the farm. This last year was mind blowing. We grew so much and our production demands increased like crazy. Our Airman came home for a good long visit and headed back to his duty station. Lot's of great things for our family personally and for Solid Rock Soap Co. Our farm hands are growing like the weeds in our summer garden. Remind me to find a good pile of bricks to put on their little heads. Any way.. let's get to the good stuff.
The herd is doing great and our does are due to have their babies in the next month! We love this time of year. All of our adult does should be ready to kid in mid February. This means countless barn visits at all hours and lots of stress (for us) and excitement. We prep our barn at the beginning of kidding month with fresh bedding and all birthing stalls prepped with water and feed buckets and alfalfa. They normally eat and drink all together in our big feed troughs and our water trough. You can feel the tension in the air. Goats are, well, plain ol ornery! Lovable but ORNERY!! They have a sort of unspoken code that no doe can kid when the people expect it. The weather must be atrocious. The big people must also be worried and tired. Then WAMMO!!! BABIES. I'll keep you updated as things get closer.
The shop has some big things planned for 2020 too. We have updated our donations for the new year. This year we will be partnering with two organizations that help Veterans. The Coffee Bunker out of Tulsa, OK, and 22 Until None out of Phoenix, AZ. The Coffee Bunker is a Veteran support organization that helps local vets get job training and placement, additional support, and so much more. We have a link on our website to their site for more information. 22 Until None is a great veteran support group who is ending veteran suicide one step at a time. Please go to our site and click the link there to learn more about this amazing group. We will also be donating to Filling Tummies. This is a non profit out of Oklahoma City, OK. They have a bus that goes to schools in lower income areas so that the children can have access to quality healthy food and not have to go without. We will have a link up on the site very soon for information on Lisa and her mission.
We have changed our packaging!! We are transitioning to soap boxes for the majority of our soaps. This protects our soap and looks amazing. We have new labeling as well. We are also reducing our single use plastic by switching all of our jars and our 8 oz lotion containers to glass. Be looking for a refillable option for our lotions and scrubs. If you are local to us, we will also be offering a recycling program for your glass containers. We will have more info on that later.
We have also added something we are seriously excited about. We have Subscription Plans now!!! We have created a Basic, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Sensitive, Skincare, Men, and Beards plans. We have something for everyone. Each plan offers a discount and some even offer free shipping!! What a great way to get Farm to Skin Done Right goodness delivered right to your door each month. Be sure to check those options out on the website.
Our website images will be getting an overhaul soon as well. We are always growing and striving to showcase our products in the best possible way. So be looking for some new fresh pics.
In the product department this year holds so much!!! Here are just a few.. We will be arranging our soaps into 2 categories, our Essential Oil Collection and our Artisan Collection. Our essential oil collection will feature all of our soaps made with natural colorants and pure high quality essential oils. Our Artisan collection will feature all of our soaps that showcase our artistic side. We will also be adding a complete line of goat milk skin care!!! We will have four different traditional skin care systems that will each include a soap, face mask, face cream, and serum. We will also be adding two oil cleansing systems that will include a solid oil cleanser and moisture bar. We will also be adding lip and eye serums. These take extended research and product development to bring you the best, so be patient and keep your eyes peeled! We are also adding a line of solid shampoo and conditioners. We have been thinking of our guys too. For all the Solid Rock Men out there we will be releasing a shave soap and men's skin care line. There are several more things we have up our sleeves, but we can't give away all the secrets.
